Privacy Policy — Umaiya

Last updated: September 20, 2026

In short

Umaiya does not collect any personal data. The app runs entirely on your device, with no account, no server and no internet connection. Nothing you do in it is sent to anyone.

Who is responsible

Umaiya Studio
SIREN 109 200 568 (France)
Contact: umaiya.app@gmail.com

The data we collect

None. Umaiya has no user account, does not ask for an email address or a phone number, and does not send us any information about you.

The first time you open the app, it offers to let you enter a first name — only so that Aiko can greet you by name on the home screen. This field is optional: you can leave it empty, change it or erase it at any time from the Profile screen. Like everything else, it is stored only on your device and never reaches us.

The data stored on your device

For the app to work, some information is saved locally, on your device only:

This information never leaves your device. We have no access to it. It is permanently deleted when you uninstall the app.

Daily reminders

If you turn on the daily reminder, the notification is scheduled locally by your device. No notification identifier is sent, no server is contacted, and we do not know whether you have turned this option on.

Japanese pronunciation

When you ask to hear a word, the text is passed to your device's text-to-speech engine, provided by your operating system (Apple or Google). Depending on your device settings, this engine may process the text offline or call on its provider's servers. This processing falls under your operating system and its provider's privacy policy, not ours. The texts involved are Japanese words and phrases from the app; they contain no information about you.

Subscriptions

This section applies once subscriptions are available.

Buying and renewing a subscription is handled entirely by Apple's App Store or by Google Play. We never see your payment details: they are processed by the store, under its own privacy policy.

To know whether your subscription is active, we use the RevenueCat service, which receives an anonymous identifier generated for your installation, along with the related purchase events (plan chosen, start date, renewal date). This identifier is not linked to your name, your email address or any data that could identify you. It is used only to unlock the content you are entitled to, including after reinstalling the app or on a new device.

The YouTube channel and YouTube API Services

This section covers the internal tools that publish and measure Umaiya's YouTube channel. It does not concern the mobile app, which does not connect to any Google account.

Umaiya Studio uses YouTube API Services to manage its own channel. By using these tools, the people who authorize them agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Data obtained from Google is also subject to the Google Privacy Policy.

The data accessed and the actions taken. With the authorization of the Google account that manages the channel, these tools access only:

What is not accessed. No viewer data: not their identity, their comments or their subscriptions. YouTube Analytics statistics are aggregated and do not identify anyone.

Where this data is kept. On Umaiya Studio's work computer, and nowhere else: no server, no third-party service. The authorization token issued by Google is stored there outside of any code repository.

What we do with it. This data is used only to follow the publication of the videos and to improve their content. It is not sold, shared or used for advertising. No third party serves content or ads through these tools, and they set no cookies.

How long it is kept. YouTube Analytics statistics may be kept to follow the channel's progress. Other data obtained from the API is refreshed or deleted within 30 days. Any deletion request is handled within 7 days.

Revoking access. The authorization given to these tools can be withdrawn at any time from the Google account's security settings page: security.google.com/settings/security/permissions.

For any question or complaint, write to us at umaiya.app@gmail.com.

The TikTok account and Content Posting API

This section covers the internal tools that publish videos to Umaiya's TikTok account. It does not concern the mobile app.

Umaiya Studio uses the TikTok Content Posting API to publish its own educational videos. By using these tools, the people who authorize them agree to the TikTok Terms of Service.

The data accessed and the actions taken. With the authorization of the TikTok account that manages the profile, these tools access only:

What is not accessed. No viewer data: not their identity, their comments or their subscriptions. The counters are aggregated and do not identify anyone.

Where this data is kept. On Umaiya Studio's work computer, and nowhere else: no server, no third-party service. The authorization token issued by TikTok is stored in an encrypted folder outside of any code repository.

What we do with it. This data is used only to publish videos and to follow their reception. It is not sold, shared or used for advertising. No third party serves content or ads through these tools, and they set no cookies.

How long it is kept. Video counters may be kept to follow the account's progress. The authorization token is renewed automatically and deleted if access is revoked. Any deletion request is handled within 7 days.

Revoking access. The authorization given to these tools can be withdrawn at any time from the TikTok account's security settings: tiktok.com/setting → Security and permissions → Authorized apps.

What we don't do

Children

Umaiya is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data about them. Since no personal data is collected, no information about a child can reach us.

Your rights

The European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) gives you the right to access, correct, erase, restrict and object to the processing of your personal data. Depending on where you live, other laws — such as the California Consumer Privacy Act — may give you similar rights.

Since Umaiya holds no personal data about you, we are in practice unable to identify you and have nothing to send you or erase. The information saved on your device is under your sole control: you delete it by uninstalling the app.

For any question, write to us at umaiya.app@gmail.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL (www.cnil.fr), or with the authority of the country where you live.

Changes to this policy

Any change will be published on this page, with an updated date. If a change were to involve collecting new data, you would be told in the app before it takes effect.
