Purpose
These terms govern the use of the Umaiya 旨屋 app, which helps you learn Japanese by cooking: recipes, vocabulary, cultural stories and reviews. By installing or using the app, you accept these terms.
Free content and Umaiya+ content
Umaiya offers a base of recipes, words and stories available without a subscription. An optional subscription, Umaiya+, unlocks the whole catalog: all recipes, all vocabulary, the whole Japan section, unlimited reviews and the cooking book, as well as the new recipes published every Tuesday.
The Umaiya+ subscription
The subscription is offered as a monthly or yearly plan, with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. The price, duration and content of each plan are shown on the purchase screen before any commitment.
The subscription renews automatically: at the end of the free trial, the chosen period is charged, then automatically renewed when it ends, unless it is canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Purchase, renewal and cancellation are handled entirely by the app store where the subscription was taken out (App Store or Google Play): payment, refunds and cancellation are managed from your account settings in that store, under its own terms.
If you reinstall the app or change devices, an active subscription can be recovered with the “Restore purchases” button, with no Umaiya account needed.
Intellectual property
The texts, illustrations, characters, audio recordings and learning content of the app are the property of Umaiya Studio or its licensors, and are protected by intellectual property law. They are made available to you for personal, non-commercial use, within the app. Any reproduction or distribution outside this scope is not permitted without prior consent.
Use of the app
The app is intended for personal learning. You agree not to use it for purposes other than its own, not to try to get around its technical mechanisms, and to comply with applicable law.
Availability and changes
Umaiya Studio strives to ensure continuous access to the app, without guaranteeing that it will be free of interruptions or errors. Content and features may change, notably with the addition of new recipes or new sections; features already available under a current subscription are not withdrawn for the duration of that subscription.
Liability
The app provides cooking and Japanese-learning guidance for educational, not professional, purposes. It is up to each person to adapt the recipes to their own constraints (allergies, equipment, etc.) and to take care when preparing them.
Governing law
These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, and failing an amicable settlement, the competent French courts shall have sole jurisdiction, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you live.

Any change will be published on this page, with an updated date.
